According to on Tuesday, the Tennessee Titans signed wide receiver Tyler Boyd of Clairton, Pennsylvania to a one-year deal worth $4.5 million. The Titans are the second National Football League franchise Boyd has played for. He previously played eight seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals from 2016 to 2023.

This past season Boyd had 67 catches for 667 receiving yards and two touchdown catches. Both touchdown catches came in Bengals wins. The first was for eight yards from quarterback Joe Burrow of Ames, Iowa, and came in a 17-13 Bengals win over the Seattle Seahawks on October 15. At the time, the touchdown came with two minutes and 22 seconds left in the first quarter, and tied the game at seven. The second was for seven yards from Burrow and came in a 31-17 Bengals win over the San Francisco 49ers on October 29. At the time, Boyd’s touchdown opened the scoring with six minutes and 49 seconds into the game. Also this past season, Boyd had two rushes for 11 yards.

In 120 NFL regular season games, Boyd has 513 catches for exactly 6000 receiving yards and 31 touchdown catches. He also has 19 rushes for 166 rushing yards. Boyd’s 6000 receiving yards are 220th on the NFL all-time receiving list.

Boyd is one of two high profile wide receivers the Titans have acquired in free agency. The other is Calvin Ridley of Fort Lauderdale, Florida from the Jacksonville Jaguars. 

Tennessee has acquired five other notable players via free agency in the offseason. They are center Lloyd Cushenberry III of Geismar, Louisiana, from the Denver Broncos, cornerback Chidobe Awuzie of San Jose, California from the Bengals, running back Tony Pollard of Memphis, Tennessee from the Dallas Cowboys, linebacker Kenneth Murray of Missouri City, Texas from the Los Angeles Chargers, and defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania from the San Francisco 49ers.
