Scottie Scheffler’s remarkable 2024 golf season continues. On Sunday, he won the Travelers Championship for his sixth win of the season.

Scheffler of Ridgewood, New Jersey posted a four round score of -22, and in the process beat South Korean Tom Kim in a playoff. In the playoff, Scheffler had a score of birdie, and Kim only posted par. Two other golfers were in contention. Tom Hoge of Statesville, North Carolina and Sung-jae Im of Cheongju-si, South Korea were tied for third place at -20.

Scheffler, who is number one in the world, has now won six PGA events since March. He was also victorious at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Players Championship, Masters, RBC Heritage and The Memorial.

In Cromwell, Connecticut over the weekend, Scheffler posted a first round score of five-under-par 65, a second round score of six-under-par 64, a third round score of six-under-par 64, and a fourth round score of five-under-par 65. He had one eagle during the tournament. That came in the first round on Thursday, when he posted a score of three on a par five.

There were two other notable stories on the weekend. On Saturday, Cam Young of Briarcliffe, New York shot a third round score of 59. He became the 12th player in PGA history to shoot a round under 60. Jim Furyk has accomplished the feat twice. Young finished the tournament in ninth place at -17.

Then on Sunday, there was complete disruption to the tournament as Scheffler, Kim and Akshay Bhatia finished their fourth round. Protesters came on to the 18th green and sprayed red and white paint before being tackled by security. It is unfortunate that the incident happened as it completely disrupted the rhythm of the tournament.
