The Boston Celtics have booked a ticket to the second round of the Eastern Conference semifinals. On Wednesday, the Celtics clobbered the Miami Heat 118-84, and won the best out of seven first round playoff series four games to one.

Five Celtics players reached double digits in points. Small forward Jaylen Brown of Marietta, Georgia, and shooting guard Derrick White of Parker, Colorado scored 25 points each. Small forward Sam Hauser of Green Bay, Wisconsin had 17 points, power forward Jayson Tatum of St. Louis, Missouri had 16 points, and point guard Jrue Holiday of Chatsworth, California had 10 points. Hauser had double digits off the bench, while Tatum had a double double with 12 rebounds, and was a game high +35.

The Celtics won every quarter in the basketball game. They outscored Miami 41-23 in the first quarter, 27-23 in the second quarter, 30-20 in the third quarter, and 20-18 in the fourth quarter.

Boston got revenge against Miami in this series too. Remember, this series was a rematch of the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals, which the Heat won in seven games.

The biggest difference between the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals and the first round of the 2024 NBA playoffs, was the fact that the Heat were without their star player, power forward Jimmy Butler of Houston, Texas. Butler missed the series with a medial collateral ligament sprain.

The Celtics are the first team from the Eastern Conference to qualify for the second round of the playoffs. The Cleveland Cavaliers lead the Orlando Magic 3-2, the Indiana Pacers lead the Milwaukee Bucks 3-2 and the New York Knicks lead the Philadelphia 76ers 3-2.
