Cameron Davis of Sydney, Australia has won the 2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit, Michigan. On Sunday, he finished the four day tournament at -18. This was Davis’s second career PGA Tour title. It just so happens his first PGA Tour win was the 2021 Rocket Mortgage Classic.

Over the last four days in Michigan, Davis had a four round score of -18. He beat four players by a stroke. Those who finished in second place were fellow Australian Min Woo Lee of Perth, Australia, England’s Aaron Rai and Americans Davis Thompson and Akshay Bhatia. Then there were four players tied for sixth place at -15. Those three strokes back were Americans Eric Cole, and Cameron Young, Rico Hoey of the Philippines, and South Africa’s Erik van Rooyen.

Davis began with an opening round score of four-under-par 68 as he had six birdies and two bogeys. That was followed by a second round score of six-under-par (seven birdies and one bogey), a third round score of six-under-par (six birdies), and a fourth round score of two-under-par (four birdies and two bogeys).

Another major reason why Davis got the Sunday win was because of the struggles on the 18th hole by Bhatia. He had an opportunity to get a par putt on the 18th hole to force a playoff. Instead, he had a three-put bogey, and missed a four-foot putt for par.

Davis becomes the first Australian golfer this year to win on the PGA Tour. Hannah Green of Perth has won twice on the LPGA Tour. The first came at the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore on March 3, and the second came at the JM Eagle Los Angeles Championship on April 28.
